Planning your 2013 crochet resolution

It’s a new year and so many are busy planning their resolutions for healthier living, making better choices, and accomplishing goals.  In my opinion, so much of this can be accomplished with a crochet hook and some yarn.  Okay…maybe a lot of yarn.

So the question becomes, what to make?  Here are a few ideas to help inspire your crochetsolutions.

Learn something new
Make a list of all the different stitches or techniques you’d like to learn and choose a few to focus on for the year.  Don’t forget to show off what you’ve learned at the chapter meeting bring ‘n brags.

Make gifts for others
Whether it’s for birthdays or holidays, it’s never too early to begin those gifts for 2013.  Plan ahead and watch for yarn sales to help make your projects more affordable.

Get social!
There are so many ways to get social with crochet.  Join us at one of our Sit ‘n Hooks.  Hop online and see what others are doing on Ravelry.  Like us on Facebook for chapter updates, project ideas and other fun.  There’s so much to gain from this extension of our community.

Create for charity
If you’re looking to donate your finished projects, there are plenty to choose from.  Some of our chapter favorites are blankets for Project Linus and Kids Korner, hats for Halos of Hope, and washcloths, hats and scarves for the local women’s shelter.

Try your hand at designing
Many of us have a technique or stitch that we’re just in love with.  Play with your yarn and make something of your own design.  You may just surprise yourself!

Share your crocheting with others

So many are often fascinated by crocheted pieces but think they can’t learn how to do it.  If the opportunity presents itself, teach someone how to crochet.

Finish that project you’ve put off
We all have one or two (or, in my case, 10 or more) projects we haven’t quit finished.  Take the time to finish them off and be proud that it’s one less thing to take up room in your “to complete” pile.

Make something special for yourself
So many of us make things for others and leave nothing fun for ourselves.  Take the time to make something fabulous for yourself and smile every time you use it.

However you decide to fill your time with hooks and fiber, we hope 2013 is a fantastically creative year for you.  Happy Hooking!
